1. Provide a common defense.

    • defend against foreign countries

    • This is important to our nation's stability because if we had no defense then it would be like having a big target on our back for other nations to attack.



2. Resolve conflict within a society

    • maintains social order and peace within a community

    • This is important to our nation's stability because if conflicts weren't resolved the country would be chaotic with people running around fighting



3. Provide public services

    • makes life easier and more efficent

    • This is important to the nation's stability becuase without public services the country would be asking too much from the people living in the country.



4. Protect people's rights

    • government passes laws that shapes the economy and makes life simpler
